A teen wanted for robbing a bank in Michigan and stealing a car in Indiana is in custody after being arrested in Vermilion County, Illinois. Authorities say Jacob Edwards was arrested Friday. A deputy responded after the 18-year-old suspect knocked on a door of a home in the 25-hundred block of North Road. Edwards pointed a gun at the deputy, who shot him. Edwards was taken to the hospital. A deadly shooting in Carbondale is under investigation. State police say Robert Delmore Junior was shot and killed Saturday in the 800 block of East Grand Avenue. He was found with a gunshot wound inside an apartment. No arrests have been made. The Illinois museum community is mourning the passing of Illinois State Museum Director Cinnamon Catlin-Legutko over the weekend. Catlin-Legutko had served as director since the fall of 2019. She recently had been appointed by President Joe Biden to the Route 66 Centennial Commission. Illinois' unemployment rate remains steady. The state's Department of Employment Security says the jobless rate stayed the same last month at four-point-seven percent. Non-farm payroll jobs went down slightly. The Illinois Department of Corrections is partnering with Lewis University on a new program at Sheridan Correctional Center. Nearly 20 students are taking part in the Prison Education Program after receiving Second Chance Pell grants. The program is the second of its kind in Illinois following Augustana College in East Moline Correctional Center. The Second Chance Pell Initiative enables individuals in custody to participate in post-secondary education programs.
