KUALA LUMPUR: Police will be monitoring the movement of the Thaipusam chariot to Batu Caves and back to ensure compliance to the standard operating procedure (SOP), says Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.
The Inspector-General of Police said police were aware of the government’s decision to allow the chariot to journey from the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple on Jalan Tun H. S. Lee to the Sri Subramaniaswamy Temple at Batu Caves.
"The journey does not include a public procession or observers along the designated route.
"The chariot will be allowed to move to Batu Caves on Jan 27 between 3am and 6am and will return to Kuala Lumpur on Jan 29," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 26).
