Nigeria needs strong institutions and systems to effectively fight corruption and illicit financial flows (IFFs), Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC), Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, has canvassed.
He made the call while delivering a lecture at the Executive Intelligence Management Course 14 of the National Institute for Security Studies in Bwari, Abuja.
In his paper titled, “Governance, Corruption, Rule of Law and Security in Africa”, Owasanoye stated that the solution to corruption, economic, security and other problems bedeviling Nigeria lies with building strong institutions and systems with active collaboration from state and non-state actors.
Also, he appealed to Sub-Saharan African nations to address illicit financial flows and prioritise asset recovery with a view to minimising graft in the region.
