ICE: Detroit immigrant family with disabled daughter can stay in US

The Michigan office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said Friday it will allow a Detroit immigrant family with a disabled daughter to remain the U.S. for one more year.
ICE had planned to deport on Dec. 30 the Bartolon family of Detroit — who had escaped domestic violence in Guatemala — telling them to buy one-way plane tickets. On Wednesday, they and a group of supporters with a Catholic group protested outside the Detroit office of ICE on the city's east side as the family's attorney met with ICE officials. The Free Press reported Thursday about their journey and legal case.
