Keen to ride on demand revival during likely harsher summer months
After facing a completely washed-out summer in 2020 due to the pandemic-induced lockdown, ice-cream players are banking on a strong revival in the upcoming season. Early onset of the season, projection of a harsher summer in the country this year and a uptick in the out-of-home consumption channel are making players bullish about this season’s sales.
The organised ice-cream industry in India was projected to grow at a CAGR of 18-20 per cent between 2019-2025. But the pandemic put brakes on the category’s growth last year. Now, industry players are hoping to get back to double-digit growth, and expect the industry to achieve a growth of 12-13 per cent in 2021.
