Iberia Parish School Board approves extension of COVID-19 sick leave

The Iberia Parish School Board has approved the extension of COVID-19 sick leave for employees.
Superintendent of Schools Carey Laviolette says that the decision to extend the emergency pay sick leave was made at Wednesday night's school board meeting.
Leave has now been extended until June 30, 2021.
Last week, an Iberia Parish School Board committee recommended that the full board approve an extension of the 10 days of COVID leave required by the first CARES Act.
Last year, Congress required most employers to provide employees with 10 days of leave who are diagnosed with COVID or required to quarantine because of exposure. That requirement ended in December, and the new bill did not extend it.
