The Iberia Parish Council Executive Committee met Wednesday night and on the agenda was a discussion about internet services in the area.
Committee members considered a resolution to urge the state legislature to invest in and facilitate the installation of high speed internet in rural areas in Iberia Parish.
Councilman Scott Ransonet, who represents District 9, says better services will mean better businesses and online learning for students.
"People in this parish, especially my district, district 9 alone, there's quite a few residents that want to start businesses," he explained. "Also with COVID, we could really use this to help the students. The students right now in a lot of these houses can't get online and do their studies, so it would be a big help."
