A DISTRACTED teacher who killed a cancer sufferer who was about to marry the love of her life in a road crash, has been jailed.
A court heard victim Emma Summerell was about to given the all-clear after a two year battle with cancer.
Maths and science teacher Ian Rowland over-steered his car on a country road and caused the crash in which Emma died as his car skidded sideways into her lane.
At Taunton Crown Court Rowland, 51, was jailed for 28 weeks after a judge rejected his claim that it has been a "momentary" lapse of attention.
Judge Paul Cook said Rowland's speed was not safe for the road or the conditions on that day and said it was "more than a momentary lapse of concentration on your part".
