Husband-and-wife to be charged with abusing foreign domestic helper

KUALA LUMPUR: A man and his wife who were detained for allegedly abusing their Indonesian domestic helper last November will be charged at the Jalan Duta Sessions Court on Wednesday (Jan 13).
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said the investigation papers have been referred to the Attorney General's Chambers for further action.
"The female suspect will be charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code, two charges under Section 325 of the same code and a charge under Section 13 of the Anti-Trafficking In Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) 2007.
"Her husband will be charged under Section 12 of Atipsom," he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 11).
