Huon Valley council to hike rates by 12 per cent, with blame in part directed at 'past' councillors

A council in Tasmania's south is increasing rates by 12 per cent next financial year to deal with rising debt levels. It's looking at asking residents which services they'd like see cut, to reduce their rate bill in future.
