HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ - Almost half of all new COVID-19 infections in the United States (44%) are stemming from five states – New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida and Michigan.
The Garden State’s COVID activity level was elevated from the moderate to high risk level over the past few days, and this week’s meeting of Hunterdon County’s governing body was impacted by the alarming new rise in COVID cases.
Hunterdon County Health Officer Karen DeMarco called into Tuesday’s Board of County Commissioners’ meeting, as she and board director Susan Soloway both noted that in early April the decision was made to take a step back from in-person county meetings in Flemington. Despite having most meetings over the last six months at the Hunterdon County Courthouse with a limited audience, the April 6 meeting was held only via teleconference.
