Hunter began talking to New Yorker reporter Adam Entous.
From Adam’s perspective, the story was an attempt to understand my role with a Ukrainian energy company. For me, it was an opportunity not only to give my side of that story but to shout to the world, “Here I am!” — an emphatic counterweight to “Where’s Hunter?”
Hunter did not notify his father nor his nascent presidential campaign about the interview.
The intention of the story in Hunter’s mind was to innoculate everybody else from his own personal failings and head off any other stories about his crack addiction.
