Hundreds attend Palmerston North march to highlight Palestine violence

Violence has escalated in recent weeks along the Gaza Strip, a blockaded strip of land between Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea.
Hamas militants have fired hundreds of rockets, while the Israeli military has launched hundreds of airstrikes and amassed thousands of troops and reservists along the border.
Apartment buildings have been destroyed and hundreds of civilians either killed or wounded, while the UN says and as many as 10,000 Palestinians have been forced out of their homes.
Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta​ said on Thursday she wanted a de-escalation from Israel, with senior officials also speaking to Israel's ambassador to New Zealand, Ran Yaakoby, about the situation.
