Hughes Network Systems‘ 4510 satellite/cellular hybrid S-band terminal is now available for customers in Europe, the satellite technology company announced Tuesday.
Hughes describes the 4510 model as the global market’s first dual-transport S-band terminal with included software that enables both failover and dual-WAN features. The terminal can be operated and updated remotely and delivers data rates up to 200 kbps forward and 150 kbps in return.
The Hughes 4510 contains an embedded SIM (eSIM) for global 4G cellular operation and features an omnidirectional satellite antenna. As it moves in and out of terrestrial cellular coverage, it automatically routes IP traffic via terrestrial or mobile satellite system networks based upon path availability to provide constant connectivity. Hughes said that the terminal also has a low power requirement that makes especially suited for deployment on a vehicle, fixed site or boat in off-the-grid locations.
