The speaker itself measures 187mm tall and 147mm in diameter, and it weighs 2.2kg. That’s significantly lighter than the Sound X, which weighs 2.9kg and is a couple of centimetres taller and wider. The upper section of the speaker’s housing is fashioned from a reflective coating, which gives it a rather futuristic appearance, while a fibre grid cloth encases the bottom quarter of the Sound. Huawei says the speaker is both dust- and splash-resistant, though there’s no IP rating stated.
It’s a striking design and one I like a lot, although the reflective surface is extremely quick to collect fingerprints and dust. There’s a cleaning cloth included in the box, which is handy, but I found myself having to use it more than I’d have liked.
