In the mid-'90s, Jonathan Becker was persuaded by a web-designer friend to launch a commercial website on the then-fledgling World Wide Web to sell his theatrical mask creations.
"I thought it was a stupid idea. Technology drives me bonkers," Becker, 57, said. "I ended up with a really successful international business, making and selling masks in 50 or more countries around the world."
Becker's extensive client list includes Disney Theatrical Group, Bravo Cable Network, Focus Films, NBC, Circle in the Square Theatre School, Stella Adler Studio and The Julliard School. He received a Meritorious Achievement Award from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for his mask designs for a University of Colorado production.
