How did a conservative UW-Madison student nearly win a city council seat?

Madison city council candidate Charlie Fahey was just 103 votes shy of representing the UW campus. Now that the election is over, Fahey has revealed he is a Republican who helped campaign for conservative Supreme Court candidate Daniel Kelly.
