Kiara Simoes has always loved writing. Ever since she was little, she has scribbled down her thoughts and ideas. "In my wildest dreams, I'd love to be a writer," she said. But the idea of achieving a state rank in English never entered her mind.
"I got my ATAR and thought that was it, until people started calling me up," she said. Kiara had never heard of an honour roll but, on Friday, she found out her name was on it, and she had come second in English standard.
