Houston Zoo welcomes baby howler monkey named Marlie

The Houston Zoo on Wednesday announced the arrival of a howler monkey named Marlie.
The baby primate was born to mother Charlie at the zoo on Nov. 17, according to the release.
Although male howler monkeys are black, while females are gold, both sexes are blond until age 2.5.

Both mother and baby are healthy and can currently be found at the zoo's South America's Pantanal exhibit.
Howler monkeys can weigh up to 22 pounds. They are are known for their cacophonous cries, which can be heard from more than three miles away.
