The housing market is exploding, but it's not alleviating any pressure,
Builders in the Oklahoma City area started more houses through April than in the first third of any year going back at least a decade: 2,202, a jump of 21.6% compared with the first four months of 2020, according to Dharma Inc.'s Builder Report.
That's even with skyrocketing prices for lumber and other materials, and disruptions in supply distribution.
And there's still a house shortage that may be here to stay awhile, just an 18-day inventory, according to the Oklahoma City Metro Association of Realtors. That's counting only homes listed with Realtors, not sold directly by builders or owners.
