Rahui Papa and Dame Naida Glavish of the National Iwi Chairs Forum helped develop the commission’s Framework Guidelines on the Right to a Decent Home in Aotearoa, which will be used as the basis for a national inquiry later this year.
Mr Papa says having a warm, safe home is a fundamental human right.
"Not only a house for the safety of someone to put their head down for the night, but it's also a health issue, but it's also an educational issue, it's a community issue, the number of objectives and opportunities and the list goes on," he says.
