A retired Human Resources management official who was responsible for employee matters at the prestigious Sandy Lane Hotel admitted to the Employment Rights Tribunal (ERT) on Thursday that the company breached the legislative procedures for disciplining employees when it fired laundry supervisor Alfred Branch forthwith in February 2014.Then Assistant Director of Human Resources Winifred Williams also agreed with Branch’s attorney Rhea Cheltenham that Sandy Lane even breached its own internal disciplinary procedure with regard to an earlier matter concerning the former employee.Williams testimony before the ERT came during a 45-minute cross-examination by Branch’s lawyer as the unfair dismissal hearing continued virtually today before the panel of commissioners chaired by former High Court and Court of Appeal judge, Christopher Blackman. Trade unionist Frederick Forde and HR professional Deighton Marshall, are the other two commissioners hearing the matter.
