A 35-year-old father was arrested after police said he held his child hostage during an hours-long situation that unfolded early Wednesday morning in a northeast Norman neighborhood. Police said the incident started after the man led police officers on a pursuit that ended near 12th Avenue Northeast and Shadowlake."Flipped it over to the news, and I saw what was happening and saw my backyard," witness and neighbor Walker Hinds said. "Started taking pictures and recording as soon as I could. Saw everything that was going on."Oklahoma City police officers were first alerted around 4 a.m. about a vehicle they learned was connected with multiple warrants. The officers then engaged in a pursuit from South Santa Fe Avenue and 44th Street, chasing the suspect to Norman. The suspect, 35-year-old Adam Herrera, bailed out of the car after getting a flat tire and then ran off with his daughter."He is with a 2-year-old child. He's holding that 2-year-old child, and we believe he's holding some kind of weapon," Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Foster said.Police said Herrera held his daughter hostage at knifepoint."Holding a toddler right across the street on the sidewalk," Hinds said.Tactical Teams, Air 1 and negotiators worked to get Herrera to release his daughter. Herrera eventually dropped the knife, peacefully gave over his daughter, and was released."It was relieving since the baby was in danger," Hinds said.
