96 percent of Lake of the Woods District Hospital staff are now vaccinated for COVID-19.
President and CEO Ray Racette says he was the last person and he received his shot last Friday.
He adds that about 20 people chose not to be vaccinated.
“As a hospital, we have a number of conditions for people working,” explains Racette.
“One of them is you need to be vaccinated for certain things. COVID is not sitting on that list right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a move to make some of these things mandatory for workers and so on.”
Racette says in addition to vaccinating over 500 staff, they also were able to vaccinate several of their patients including ones on dialysis, chemotherapy, and long-term care.
