Hong Kong police will be out in force on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day to curb possible illegal protests and crowd gatherings, the Post has learned.
The security blanket will be in place even as annual march organiser the Civil Human Rights Front intends to replace its event with a car parade and a display of banners across the city, calling for the immediate release of 12 Hong Kong fugitives detained in Shenzhen and that of other activists arrested locally.
