mhm. Alright. Hollis Harper for formal Central. The girls' basketball coach. Obviously a big win over McMichael last night in the 2 a.m. Eastern Regional final. You're going back to the state championship game. I'm sure you're very excited about it. Um, talk about Take us through this playoff round last night as well. Um, what's worked so well for your team leading up to the state championship? Well, they've been playing hard. We've been playing all year together, trying to stay safe with this pandemic is going on, but lucky that we have not had no injuries or have got caught with it. So, like we're being safe within your team is, uh has quite a bit of size for for a to a team, starting with the Maya Joyner. I think also, Janikowski is the other, um, take us through those main players on your team and what makes them so effective? Oh, Oh, we all play together. Um, Yahya joined this big data is a big factor for the two way schools. You have journey, Matt. Doc McDaniel. That's a good girl. That's for the big schools. And then you have genitalia fast. We big insides. upfront. Um, we start with the inside and starts out from the outside, for sure. For Maya, particularly. Um, she's a junior now, but she's been playing with you since she was a freshman. Obviously, Um, have you seen her grow up? Particularly for the last couple of years? Um, she's grown up a lot. You know, she now she's starting to help the basketball more as a big person. She's starting to go to the whole more. And then, you know, she's getting a lot of players involved at first that, you know, people depend on her. But now what she do is she get everybody else involved. And once you get everybody is involved, we come a better team. So obviously it's not. It's not your first time here to the state championship week, but still, it's still probably very exciting for you. I'm sure just kind of describe what this whole process is. Like all the meetings you I go to and like, uh, you know, just sort out the tickets and everything. Just what's it all? What's it all like for the head coach? Yeah, it's a lot. I mean, without my assistant coaches, help me out. I don't know what will happen. I mean, they're doing a whole lot. Um, then you have this, you know, Pandemic is going around. Um, thanks to the North Carolina High School Association that we're still applying. But, you know, you got guidelines to go by. You got ticket sales, Uh, that we got to go by. Um, the biggest thing gets to that. You have the board that's in the playoffs, and we can't go see them, and we have to s e out. Um, it's kind of hard, but we're here to play. And whatever happens from Dell, we're just gonna go ahead. How much have you been able to look at Shelby? There also a very good team. They're a little bit young, but they're very talented. Um, what do you know about that team? And how are they going to be a challenge for you guys where they have speed? Uh, my little day guards, the guards are very fast. Um, they can get up and down the court. Um, but the only thing about that is that, uh, they ain't here for nothing. You know, you can't take nobody lives in regards to how you on? They are. They're here for a reason. They're a good team. So we just have to come out and play our game, and hopefully we can come on guitars. So, um, lastly, here there's two more. Two more days of practice before Saturday. Obviously, Um, what's gonna be the main focus the next couple of days? What's the message to the team and what? What's something you're gonna work on for the next couple of days? Well, the last couple of days, and we're just gonna be focused on us. Uh, we try not to change nothing. We're just gonna try to tighten up a little bit, and we already know they're fast. Um, we're just gonna keep playing our game and get better and better. Um, we have been there before. The first year we came there, we got there. We was young. Uh, we got outplayed. Second year, you know, the virus came and, you know, in North Carolina High School Association reward everybody with with a ring that got this year, I think there will be more relaxed. Um, whatever happened, um, it happens, and we'll just go for it. Yeah, it's kind of surreal. because you know that last year we did the press conference, I'm going up to the state championships, and then they canceled it a couple of days later. I think I interviewed you there as well. Um, it's surreal that we're here, but I'm glad we're still playing like you said. Uh, Coach, thanks for coming on. It's gonna be exciting game between you guys and Shelby on Saturday. I can't wait to see what happens in it. Um, good luck. My school days of practice and good luck on Saturday. And I thank you. All right, let's take care.
