NEW DELHI: There were two big talking points in the Indian men's team's return to competitive hockey on Sunday. They blanked Germany 6-1, but fans couldn't watch any of the action. The doors of the stadium in Krefeld were understandably closed to the public due to the pandemic; but no livestream of an international game, albeit an unofficial one, resulted in a lot of unhappy fans.
The winter in Krefeld had been kind and less harsh ever since the Indian team landed in Germany. But the most desired outcome of the tour arrived in the opening game itself. A win with a five-goal margin against Germany is not a scoreline India have managed often against the Rio Olympics bronze medallists.
