Council was not able to vote on hiring clerk
At the meeting Thursday, Fankhauser told council members he dropped off the legislation, which he wrote, at the mayor's office Wednesday afternoon. He followed up with Kelli Patterson, the city's administrative assistant, Thursday morning, asking her to be sure the mayor knew the legislation would have to be signed before the new clerk could be hired.
Rebecca Van Hesteren, whom council members have selected to fill the position, already has started work in the clerk's office.
The mayor did sign another piece of legislation that was passed Tuesday, Fankhauser noted.
"As of right now, we're not able to hold a vote because the legislation has not been signed," he said.
