Hiking NJ: New trails in New Milford nature preserve on Hackensack River

NEW MILFORD — Sitting at the end of River Lane is an 8.5-acre woods that for years has served as a quiet refuge known mainly to local residents.
Now, people can enjoy New Milford Woods a little more with some new trails that make it easier to navigate through the area. And there are plans for other changes while maintaining it as an undeveloped preserve.
The dedication of the new trails was on April 25 to mark the 20th anniversary of the preserve's creation.
Mayor Michael Putrino said the woodchip trails were a collaboration of the New Milford Environmental & Energy Commission, the Department of Public Works and ANJEC, the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions.
