Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced on Thursday that any Maryland resident who gets a COVID-19 vaccine is eligible to receive a lottery prize of up to $400,000.
"All you have to do to enter is get your shot," Hogan said.
Every day for 40 days, starting May 25, the Maryland Lottery will give away a $40,000 prize to someone who is vaccinated as part of its VaxCash Promotion, and on July 4 — the final day of the drawing — one lucky resident will win $400,000.
Any Maryland resident that has been vaccinated will automatically be registered for a chance to win the promotion, and Hogan said that a total of $2 million will be given away, using funds from the lottery's marketing budget.
