Here's Another Reason to Visit Old Sixth Ward's Henderson & Kane

If you haven't yet visited Henderson & Kane in the Old Sixth Ward, this might be a good time. 
The general store announced last week the addition of Aaron Lazo to its team. Lazo spent 35 years at the beloved Burt's Meat Market & Cajun Foods, which closed in March. He'll work with chef de cuisine Jesse Gallegos to tweak Henderson & Kane's sausage menu while introducing homemade chorizo verde, breakfast sausage, and smoked bratwurst.
But that isn't all. H&K owners John and Veronica Avila also announced the upcoming Old Sixth: Sodas, Sweets, and Spirits at 2111 Washington Ave. Here, the Avilas envision a combination of old-school ice cream parlor with soda counter and jazzy cocktail lounge—think boozy milkshakes and ice cream cocktails along with traditional ice cream flavors and standalone beverages. Also, table-side fondue.
