A new crop for Illinois growers, hemp, proved to be a little tricky in 2020, but overall it went well.
Hemp production – the non-psychoactive strain of cannabis, which produces CBD – was legalized in 2018 by Congress. Last year was the second growing season of the crop in Illinois.
Rachel Berry, founder, and CEO of Illinois Hemp Growers Association said there were challenges for growers.
“Weather is a big one, especially in Illinois, because the north part of the state is so different from the south part of the state so even if you pick a variety that does well in Illinois it might be completely relying on what part of Illinois, you’re in,” she told the
