Macauley Owen denied assaulting the woman in Middlesbrough
A man has appeared in court accused of assaulting a woman.
Macauley Owen was produced at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Friday to face one charge.
The 23-year-old is accused of assaulting a female occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH).
Owen, of Fairfax Court, Hemlington, denied the charge.
Prosecutor John Graham outlined the case stating: "It is not suitable for summary trial."
Michelle Tuner, mitigating, stated that she didn't agree with the crown's submission but it was a matter for the magistrates' bench.
