The Indian heavy industries ministry is hopeful that 60-70% of two-wheelers on the road will be electric in the future, reflecting the public's active adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). The ministry aims to sell 12 lakh scooters this year and expects 60-70% of electric two-wheelers and 70-75% of electric three-wheelers by 2030. The government has provided constant support for the growth of EVs in the country, and the production-linked incentive scheme in battery development will help reduce India's dependence on imports. EVs in India have grown from 0.13% in 2019-20 to 4.3% currently.
