Giving a summary of the Supreme Court's ruling on Wednesday, Lord Sales said the Government's decision was lawful.
It overrules a decision by three leading judges in February which ruled former transport secretary Chris Grayling had failed to take account of the Government's commitment to tackle climate change in its decision.
