Heat, long commutes don't dampen BPS spirit on first day back to school

About 40,000 Boston Public School students in first to twelfth grades went back to school Thursday in hot and humid conditions. The district kicked off the school year with more bus drivers and fewer teacher vacancies compared with last year.
