The U.S. Coast Guard has scheduled a formal hearing on the sinking of the F/V Scandies Rose to be held in Edmonds, Washington, next month.
The hearing will convene daily at 8 a.m. PST on weekdays from Feb. 22 through March 5 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. Participation is limited and will be coordinated in advance due to Washington state’s pandemic-related restriction. However, the hearing will be livestreamed.  The recordings will also be archived for the public to watch at any time.
The hearing will look into the sinking that occurred on Dec. 31, 2019, focusing on the conditions prior to and during the vessel’s sinking. Evidence about the sinking will include weather, icing, fisheries and the vessel’s material condition.
