The property owners in the Fort Dodge Community School District will likely see a 30-cent decrease in their school district property tax rate during this next fiscal year.
District Director of Financial Services Brandon Hansel presented the fiscal year 2022 budget estimate to the board of education on Monday evening.
The budget estimate is an update to the estimate Hansel originally presented the board at the Feb. 22 meeting. The new estimate lowers the tax rate an additional penny to $16.20 per $1,000 taxable value.
The total revenue estimated for FY22 is $70,998,979. The total expenditures is estimated at $70,667,803.
The budget and tax rate are not yet finalized. The school board will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget and tax rate at 6 p.m. on March 22, after which the board will vote to approve the budget.
