Duterte. In a press briefing here, convenors from Davao, Soccsksargen, and Caraga regions said their group dubbed "UniteaMD" abides with the principle of unity as a prerequisite to the continued progress and stability of the country. "We want to give a face that there are doctors who support the UniTeam as we share the vision of unity. We want to spread only good vibes and not negative campaigning," said Dr. Jett Lu, Davao Region lead convenor. He added the positivity that the BBM-Sara UniTeam espouses resonated loudly among workers in the healthcare industry. "The optimistic approach we employ in the management of disease parallels the positive approach of the UniTeam in solving the country's problems, and in conducting their campaign," Lu said. He said their organization, which is voluntary, has now grown to include other members of the health care industry, like nurses, dentists, pharmacists, and allied health and paramedical professionals. "In the pursuit of solutions for huge and complex problems, teamwork not only becomes essential, but unity in diversity also becomes primordial. This call for unity is one other reason why we have gravitated towards the UniTeam," Lu added. He also cited that the BBM-Sara UniTeam is the only tandem that has expressed willingness to continue with the constructive programs of the present administration. "We are optimistic about attaining sustainable growth and development in the next six years, and hopefully, beyond," he said. Dr. Sergio Demontano Jr., convenor in Soccsksargen, narrated that they got a chance to talk to Marcos through a conference when the latter had a rally in General Santos City. "He (Marcos) vowed to give priority to the front-liners. He understands our plight during the pandemic and he assured us that he will help us," he said. Among the issues being raised during the conference, according to Demontano, is the problem with PhilHealth claims. "He also vowed to look into the problem," he said. Meanwhile, Dr. Asterio Ronquillo, convenor of the Caraga Region, said that only the UniTeam tandem has the capacity to solve the problem of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). "We are still confronted with the threats of Covid-19. We urged other doctors to join our cause because this tandem will give us solutions to these problems," he said. The group also clarified that they are not imposing any membership fee for healthcare practitioners who wish to join their group. They also vowed to provide doctors on standby during the UniTeam rallies. (PNA) }
