The Fairfield Lions Club will be collecting Christmas lights today that no longer work. The collection site will be set up at the west side of the Cornerstone Community Church in Fairfield from 9 a.m. til noon. Along with the Christmas lights the club will be accepting donations of eyeglasses, hearing aids, empty ink cartridges (no laser printer cartridges), cell phones, soda tabs, and keys. The items will be recycled with proceeds used to help fund the Lions Club programs throughout the state. Wayne County Sheriff Chris Otey reports the arrest of a Cisne man earlier this week on various charges. According to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office Facebook post, this past Wednesday, Wayne County Sheriff's Office personnel arrested 41-year-old Robert J. Seymore on preliminary charges of burglary and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. An investigation revealed Seymore was also wanted out of Clay County on a warrant for burglary, and as the investigation continued, deputies learned of a possible location in Olney of a motorcycle that had been stolen out of Wayne County. The Richland County Sheriff's Office was contacted and they located and seized the motorcycle for the Wayne County Sheriff's Office to be returned to the owner. Sheriff Otey said more arrests are expected. The Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation is investigating the death of a man earlier this week while he was in custody in Wayne County. Reports said 59-year-old Harry Weccle of Evansville, Indiana had been taken into custody Wednesday on several charges and taken to the Wayne County Jail. Upon arriving at the jail Weccle complained of shoulder pain, and he was later taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead. State police had originally stopped Weccle south of Wayne City for having a headlight out on the vehicle he was driving. The investigation of the death is considered open and ongoing. No one matched the numbers drawn last night in the Mega Millions drawing, making the jackpot for this Tuesday's drawing an estimated $1.1 billion. The numbers drawn last night were 3, 20, 46, 59, 63 and the gold Mega Ball was 13. There have been 24 drawings without a winner, going back over two months. The prize is now the third-largest in U.S. history. Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Area motorists are being advised that Wayne County Road 250 North from County Road 2475 East to County Road 2600 East has been closed. The closure will be in effect until further notice. Area river stages as of this morning: Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is at 19.65 feet. Flood stage is 17 feet. At Clay City the stage is 13.97 feet. Flood stage is 18 feet. At Carmi the stage is 15.12 feet. Flood stage is 27 feet. The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 5.96 feet. Flood stage is 15 feet. The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 7.11 feet. Flood stage is 19 feet. No major rainfall is expected in the area the next several day.s
