Petitions for the Consolidated Election to be held on April 4, 2023, for the election of Mayor (two-year term), First Ward Alderman, Second Ward Alderman, Third Ward Alderman, and Fourth Ward Alderman will be available in the office of City Clerk Tina Hutchcraft beginning Tuesday, September 20. Office hours are 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. A Mayor will be elected for a two-year term to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Dreith and one alderman from each of the City's four wards will be elected for a four-year term. Main Street from First Street, east to NE 4th Street, including the 100 blocks of NE/SE 2nd Streets and NE/SE 3rd Streets continues to be closed through Sunday morning for Fall Fun Fest. The detour route continues to be south on SE 4th Street, west on Center Street, then returning to Main Street by traveling north on South First Street. There will be no on street parking on any part of the detour route. The public is asked to please be aware of increased pedestrian traffic in these areas. FNB would like to remind the public that the drive-thru and lobby will remain open during regular hours throughout the Fall Fun Fest. You can access the drive-thru by turning north on 3rd Street and following the signs. 3rd Street will be barricaded after banking hours, but the ATM can be accessed on foot. Enterprise Road, the Big Four Road extension from near Clay City to Fairfield, is closed south of the 161 intersection. Work crews are shaving down the approach to the intersection to make the stop signs more visible due to several traffic crashes over the years. The road closure is expected to last until the first week of November. Enterprise Road north of 161 and 161 are scheduled to remain open during these times. Today is the final day for Child Find/Preschool Screenings for Fairfield District #112 along with Jasper, New Hope, and Geff School Districts. The screenings are being held at North Side School and are for children 3-5 years-old who aren't yet enrolled in public school, and who aren't eligible for kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year.
