Quebec Premier on Union Negotiations, Anti-Restrictions Protest
Quebec Premier François Legault holds a news conference in Montreal following his meeting with the leaders of several unions. He is joined by Sonia LeBel, the president of the Treasury Board. Unions have been negotiating with the Quebec government since collective agreements for public sector workers expired more than a year ago on March 31, 2020. The premier also responds to questions about the protest that took place the previous day outside Montreal’s Olympic Stadium. The stadium serves as of one of the city’s mass vaccination clinics and it was closed for the day due to the protest. Thousands of demonstrators protested against the curfew and other public-health measures put in place by the provincial government to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the city. Protests also took place throughout Quebec. (May 2, 2021) (no interpretation)
