‘She made an impact on everyone that met her,’ friend says of GVSU student found dead

ALLENDALE, MI -- Buoyed by friends surrounding her, Grand Valley State University sophomore Amanda Born began to tear up as she talked about fellow student and friend Taylor DeRosa.
She knew DeRosa well. They both attended GVSU, but also were summer camp counselors at Camp Nissokone in Oscoda.
DeRosa, 18, a freshman, was found dead the morning of Dec. 12 near the intramural athletic fields on campus, south of West Campus Drive. Police said they were investigating the death as suspicious, but also said the public and campus community do not appear to be in danger.
