PRAYAGRAJ: Quashing an FIR accusing a Muslim youth from UP’s Etah of kidnapping and inducing a Hindu girl into marriage, the Allahabad high court has reunited the interfaith couple on the ground that a girl proven to have attained the age of majority and wanting to live with the person of her choice has the right to lead life on her terms.
The order came in response to a habeas corpus writ petition filed by the husband, Salman alias Karan, saying his wife Shikha had been separated from him against her wishes and handed over to her parents by the Etah child welfare committee.
