A load of hay bales caused a road blockage in Brighton Saturday afternoon.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, at about 1:30 p.m., a farm tractor trailer operated by 51-year-old Steven Jerome Sieren of Hedrick was southbound on Highway 1. Sieren was navigating the curve at the intersection of Benton Street when the load shifted and several large bales of hay fell from the trailer, striking a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Samantha Jo Johnson of Washington while she was waiting at the stop sign..
The Sheriff’s office reports there were no visible injuries at the scene, but Johnson was transported by Washington County Ambulance to Washington County Hospital as a precaution. Sieren was issued a citation for dropping a load on the highway.
