CASS CITY – The Bad Axe girls basketball team traveled to Cass City on Monday night and earned its fourth win of the season, beating the Red Hawks, 49-45, in a seesaw battle that saw several lead changes and clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch.
Monday night’s contest was close from start to finish, with the Hatchets heading into halftime with a slim 24-21 lead. Both teams held leads of two and three points as the game went back and forth with neither team gaining a solid foothold. Olivia Krueger would hit a couple of three-pointers to give the Red Hawks some momentum at the beginning of the third quarter, but the Hatchets would battle back and build a seven-point lead in the fourth and hold on for the victory.
