Kenai resident and Pastor (Major) Harry Raymond MacDermaid, 77, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.
Place of Service Kenai Church of God, Kenai, Alaska (Due to COVID-19 restrictions, limited to personal family and Church family, service will be livestreamed on Kenai Church of God Facebook page. Pastor Alan Humphries will be officiating. Public visitation and viewing – 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, Peninsula Memorial Chapel (Open to the public). He will be laid to rest at Fort Richardson National Cemetery in Anchorage at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2020. Pastor Bobby Jones will officiate. (Family Only)
Harry was born May 12, 1943 in Pontiac, Michigan. He received his BS Degree in Zoology from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, 1965. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1977 – serving in Vietnam, recipient of two Bronze Stars and two Army Commendation Medals. He moved to Alaska beginning 1973 living in Anchorage 1973-1989 until moving to Kenai. He worked for Sohio, BP, Veco several positions from which he retired in 1977, and was currently the Pastor at Kenai Church of God since 2016. He served on the Board of the Friendship Mission and enjoyed flying, fishing, hunting, and sailing.
