HARRISBURG – A fire broke out in an enclosed concrete shaft, shooting up from the basement to the roof, at the Crowne Plaza hotel Monday.
Luckily, the blaze was contained to the “blind shaft” that houses pipes running through the building, Harrisburg Bureau of Fire Chief Brian Enterline said.
No one was injured, and because the fire was contained to the shaft, damage to the hotel was minimal.
Enterline said the fire call came in around 11:25 a.m., and when crews got to the scene at 23 S. Second St., smoke was coming from the front of the building on the first floor.
