“We have raised ourselves about $22,500 so far, and we are desperate for the rest,” said Henderson who has also set up a Givealittle page.
The programme teaches young students about health, food, relationships, identities, drugs and alcohol.
In the Far North, the programme visits 80 schools and at least 6000 students a year.
Bridget Harvey, a teacher from Oturu primary school in Kaiata said she would be “devastated that a piece of magic was gone from the school year.”
“Having a special place to discuss personal issues is what the Life Education classroom provides,” she said.
