(ABC 6 News) - A fake 911 call led many enforcement agencies to a home in Hancock County Monday night.
Just after 9:30 p.m., many surrounding law enforcement agencies were called to the 200 block of West 9th Street in Kanawha for a possible shooting victim and an active threat.
After a couple of hours, investigators determined this was an incident of “swatting” directed at a particular household.
“Swatting” is the action or practice of making a prank call to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed police officer to go to a certain address of location.
